Hi all.

I just bought myself a 2001 Scudo yesterday off Gumtree. Everything seemed fine, it drove well enough on the way home. I proceeded to lock it on arriving at my house and found 4 of the locks spin. I have had to go into the rear, lock the front and side doors from the inside, the only thing is when I try to lock the back door from the outside the lock appears to be seized.

I'm not under any illusions really, I rang the guy I bought it from to ask if there was a knack in locking it but I should have known better. His phone went to voice mail and here I am lol.

The locks seem to be an issue on this model. I read another member had successfully fitted a set purchased on eBay for £54. I'll have to go down that route as I need the van for work, I'll try oiling the old locks when I fit the new units.

One other thing that is causing concern with me is the amount of blue / grey smoke from the exhaust when starting cold. The seller assured me this clears when it has warmed up. The engine has 95k miles on it.

I know its a 13 year old van and will need a few quid spent on it, however most reviews I've read online have been on the whole positive for the wee van so I'm keeping an open mind. I've attached a couple of pictures of it.

I look forward to keeping in touch with the rest of the forum members ☺

Welcome :) , The door locks often just need a good soak in a light oil, IE wd40, It's worth removing them and putting them into a bowl of wd40 or suchlike overnight to free them up and try, you will have to remove them to replace them anyway so nothing lost and this often works. Once you get them working old or new give them a spray once a month and you wont have this problem again. , it's very easy.
Remove inside door panel, unclip all the rods from back of door handle, remove 3 T30 screws from the outside check of the door, complete handle will now come out of door. Now you have the handle out look along the caseing for the lock barrel you will see an indent, push in a screwdriver and slide barrel outwards.
At 95K I would expect a bit of smoke when cold, as long as it does clear up once warm then nothing to worry about.

Cheers bigdong. Took the van to work and back today, a 50 mile round trip and was very pleased indeed. Thanks for the info buddy :)

Hi bud i had to replace my locks as i was broken in to twice last year, in the end i went for some locks that you have to bolt in rather than push and clip in ,i was surprised at how easy it is to get in our vans.
i know i haven't answered your question but its more of an heads up for the future.

cheers
jimmer

Thanks Jimmer. I've taken the locks off, they're currently soakingvin diesel. I gave them a quick inspection after 24hrs soaking but I don't think it's going to work. I'll leave them to soak until tomorrow. I've ordered a replacement set on ebay. These will keep me going untill I can afford a set of slam or dead locks. Cheers m8
