Technical New Fuel pump

Hi, I bought a new fuel pump for my 99 Fiat Brava 1.4 and followed the Haynes Manual instructions to remove the old one. The new one is longer and also wont fit inside the plastic casing the original one is in. Apparently the new one is compatible but without the casing it would move around. Thanks in advance
