Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???
whats the plan for the summer then, clearly some suspension work, anything else on the cards?

Mmgh..........Yeah your right.....first will be the marking up of the new adjustable top mount plates for the bearings then get them fitted, then get the car back to Pro Grip to get it set again on the Hunter imaging system......that said theres no rush for that straight away as i have no plans to have it on the road this year,

Then iam going to make a set of pollycarb rear side windows like i did with the side fronts last year?...or was the year before, not sure:eek:,

I do have a plans for the rear bumber.....what i can say is i have is 6m of black and ornage Kevlar weave for it.....the real stuff:slayer:,just need a few other materials then i can think about making a mould:devil:,iam sure you can guess what iam at but more on that later in the year:D,

Thats about it for the minute,

Cheers Scuderia

I'll let you borrow my Hormann wide arch bumper if you want, even has a cut out for a twin centre exit exhaust

Thanks for the offer Brooky:cool:(y),but iam alright.........wide arch kits are dogs.....B..lls.....:D, iam not sure what kit your on about?, but i did come across a guy that moulds a wide arch kit for Cento online not so long ago.........as much as that floats my boat that's not what iam at:(............not far off the mark though.....more will be revealed as the weeks go on as iam still working on it in my head, but as always it should look good and be in keeping with the build,

Cheers Scuderia

Hi All,

Been up at the garage already this morning:D.........got its winter dust cover removed and the car back up on its axle stands, then drained the coolant system ready for the fitting of the "new clean coolant header tank",Just for you Blu:p,i only replaced the coolant and anti freeze last July when fitting the new silicone coolant hose kit.....can't beleive just how rusty the coolant was already!....i guess its because its been sitting about for the last 6 Months doing nothing, although i have been turning it over every so often just to keep it lubbed up:D........sorry my minds in the gutter:rolleyes:,

Update and pics to follow over the next few weeks,

Cheers Scuderia

good stuff... I don't remember the last time my coolant got dirty, i'm always draining it for one reason or another and as its cheap i always just use new stuff. Doubt my car has been further than 1000miles without a coolant change since i bought it lol.

Saying that, mine has been sat all winter too and theres not a spot of dirt/rust in the coolant.

Nice One..........iam the same from a started this build, lost count just how many times ive changed all the fluids....to many:rolleyes:,

When i say its bad, its not terrible if you get my drift, its not that i don't use ethenal glucal because i do,it must be because its sitting about more than running?.....god knows,

Anyway not much more progress than that today...more to follow,

Hi All,

Just thought i had better give you all a little update on whats been going on up here in Scotland with this little Fiat:D........not a whole lot:(,bloody rain and wind now:bang:,

I made a start to draining the and flushing the coolant system the other week but ive not got as far as fitting the new clean header tank yet and filling it back up with fresh coolant, more on that in a few weeks,

If iam honest iam not been that keen to go down to the garage at the minute but i have made a start to the adjustable camber plates i bought at the start of the year,

So what Ive done is remove the coilovers, stripped them down, and give them a good clean then fitted the new adjustable camber plates,

That's about it for now, more in the coming days & weeks,

Cheers Scuderia

Hi All,

Just a little update whilst i have 5 mins to spare:),

I managed to get the coilovers with the new adjustable top mount strut bearings fitted which iam happy with:),

Like i said the other day, until i get the car back to Pro Grip and get it set up on the hunter imaging system will i know whats what.........when that will be iam not sure?, as iam not sure iam puitting the old girl back on the road this year, so theres no rush?,

Like i said the other day i got the new coolant tank and cap fitted and bolted back in place, its now just a case of filling it back up with fresh summer winter coolant, looks much better eh,Thanks Blu;),

Here is a pic of both in one shot to keep you going.....don't say i don't give you anything:D,

What i will do for you once i get the car topped back up with fresh coolant and checked for leaks and the sump guard bolted back on will i give you a few shots of the cars new stance,

Cheers Scuderia

Hi All,

Right i managed to get the coolant system filled back up and checked for leaks and sump guard back on.....all good:),

Like i said the other day the new adjustable top mount bearings and coilovers are fitted and set as near as possible to each other, like i said until i get it back to Pro Grip and it set up right and tested will i know whats what,

As a rough measure the camber plate and coilovers are set at about 1.5 degees of camber......nothing to silly,

New adjustable Camber plates

Iam working on another update and improvment for the car,but thats it for now,

Thats All Folks,Over & Out

another Good update from you don

Question , how must camber is the max camber you would be able to set with these and your bolts?

Hi Pal,Thanks:),

These plates themselves have a range of .......- to + 3 degrees camber, the "FK Silverlines" that iam also using can also pivit to match the plates......and if memory serves me well?, using the "FK Silverlines" i was also able to slightly adjust the camber with normal top mount bearings the last time i had it set up on the Hunter Imiging System as there is some give on the bearing itself as its moulded into a rubber mount, thuse allowing you to have slight adjustment on the pivit bolt itself on the coilover where its bolted to the hub.............Hope this helps,

Cheers Don

Hello:D,

Not been in this thread for a while:eek:....that makes a change eh,that said, i should have a few updates next week:)? .....all going well...maybe even this week:D, as i ordered some new parts that have just arrived:cool:,

Question?,ive just been given this steels wheels below from another member.....one odd wheel though, but i have managed to sorce a forth steel wheel to make up the set,so i will now use this other odd wheel as a spare,

My plane is to have them cleaned up and painted black again, but paint the face white and fit some gravel tyres to keep up with the rally look for events shows only,

My question is do the alloy studs iam using with the sporting alloys work with the steelies?...or do i have to get another set of studs?,

Your help would be good,

Cheers Scuderia

two things

the cone on the bolts needs to match the cone on the wheels
the bolts may be too long and foul they need a few mm clearance

friendly scrappy...

both are easy to check steal a bit of plasterciene for cone if it seems close
