Hello

Just wanted to pass on my experience of using an Elm 327, bought from ebay (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133786524576) and the Multiecuscan software to perform a Proxi Alignment on my 2016 Fiat Ducato based motorhome following a replacement airbag ECU.

I followed the excellent guides from @theoneandonly to backup (https://www.fiatforum.com/guides/backup-proxi-file-on-mes.875/) and then proxi align (https://www.fiatforum.com/guides/new-proxi-alignment-with-multiecuscan.890/) the ECU.

The process was very simple, once I had setup the lead properly with my laptop and Multiecuscan, although I did get an error as I have replaced my head unit, similar to one @jnmmoore (https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/proxy-alignment-help.507668/) had earlier this year.

So I headed up to my loft to retrieve the original head unit, pulled out my replacement, rewired in the old unit and set off to connect and proxi align it again, to my surprise it had completed the PA, telling me that one wasn't required, so although it throws the error if you've replaced your head unit it does align the airbag. Wasted me an hour or so, hopefully it will save someone else the time! and hope @jnmmoore's MH is back in service!

Any thing else I can do with Multiecuscan to make the vehicle better?

Thanks for the help and guides, really appreciate the effort of people to post their experiences.

Cheers all.

Hi Richard
I have the airbag module failure and I sent it to Crashdata for repair only for it to fail again three months later.
Did you replace your module with a new one?
Where did you source replacement if you did?
I too have replaced my head unit so good to know alinement will still work.
This seems a very common fault do you what causes it?

Thanks for any advice Kevin

Kevin

Mine was caused by a low voltage main battery and jump starting the motorhome from a set of jump leads, I understand this is common so next time will disconnect the airbag ECU before I mess with the battery.

I sent mine to be repaired at https://northernautotech.co.uk/ and they sent it back but it still wouldn't clear the issue, they then gave me a full credit for the original work against a new ECU, very impressed with the service from those guys, very helpful on the phone etc.

Guess see if Crashdata offer any warranty and if not I would recommend Northern Autotech for a replacement, a new one was £300 including VAT.

As I said above the alignment fails on the screen, however does work so worth trying first before rewiring in your head unit.

Richard
