Hi folks, a few more queries on the Sisley.
There is what looks like a sump bash plate framework, but without any plate infill, is something missing or is the framework meant to be open?

The air intake appears to enter behind the bumper which seems a bit low for a car with off road capabilities, is this known to cause any problems? I've blown up two engines due to water ingress, so I'm a bit sensitive!

Does anyone know what year the Panda was galvanised?

Cheers, Mike

The sump framework is the sump guard that was only fitted to 4x4's (or maybe only sisleys - not sure). Thats what its supposed to look like, nothing missing.
Don't know about the air intake (I've broken a Renault Kangoo engine too due to driving through a flood!) and don't know when Pandas were galvanised.

Thanks once again, it's a steep learning curve!
[I'm really getting to like this little tin box]

Due to a design glitch the 4x4's retained the low air-intake to the carb:eek:.
This, as you have rightly guessed, is rubbish :D.

What you need to do is take the stupidly-low air-intake pipe and reverse it so that it runs accross the engine bay, towards the o/s air-vent intake.

Split (smash with a hammer), the intake under the windscreen, to allow 50% of it to permit air into the cab and 50% to take a flexi-pipe to the windscreen base ( spare air-intake drain-pipes are ideal for this ).

Run a 'domestic' waste pipe up the side of your windscreen. Insert the flexi-pipe into the bottom of it:rolleyes: and when it reaches the roof, fit an intake, of any design, that faces down and backwards.:)

And there was me shelling out on a Safari snorkel for my Defender - I could have saved my money:D

:D Loved the snorkel! And welting it with a hammer is obviously the only answer! Marvellous! (y)
