Thank you in advance for any help. I've addressed the original problem (passenger inhibitor switch) but cant for the life of me manage to reset the airbag light. I've bought the latest registered version of multiecuscan, ebay for the ELM327 and six coloured adapters. I've tried every combination but nothing will talk to the airbag side of things although I can access the rest of the car. Should I have got an earlier version of the software or..could it be the elm327 being crap and buy another? I'm a bit stuck now. Thank you very much.

Don't know about MES, but my daughter bought a 2010 Punto Evo with an air bag issue caused by previous owners repair of passenger seat senor (his repair bypassed the resistor and destroyed the BCM) I sorted the sensor and was able to get a new unused BCM from eBay for £149, I then used my friends Snap On Zeus to run a "Proxi Alignment" program to identify all the components so they could "talk " to each other. Fiat Dealers were quoting around £1000 and even the seat sensor they wanted £127 I recall, I got a chinese universal seat occupancy sensor and soldered the original resister in to the circuit for £6. Still working fine over twelve months later.:)

Very well done sir 🙂 No such sensor in my car though, I just need to access the airbag side of things to turn off the airbag light. Then I'll be a happy bunny 😃

the lack of airbag module showing up in MES does tend to suggest the module is dead you can access the module by removing the center console and it is mounted to the floor of the car directly under the middle of the dash.

Thank you Andy, I did remove it the other day, cleaned it up, stared at it and then put it back. Oh, and a pic of it too. But anyways, thank you for your thoughts chaps.

If you bought the MES latest version from Gendan, then I am sure they will help guide you through any connection issues as they have proved to be very helpful.:)

Thank you mate, I did contact them initially but the bloke on the phone said it's cheaper to buy the software direct from MES so that's what I did. I may try a grovel to them later today. Thank you though 👍

Another thing is if the connecting cables and maybe your "Elm" are not to their MES spec.
Some on Forum have found issues in that direction.

Mike, I believe your absolutely right on the money with this, I need to try another elm327 interface and see if that works. Its finding the right one that's the next thing 🤔

if when you scan for modules in MES, the airbag module does not show up in the list, then the issue is with the module, its not being seen on the canbus and is likely the fault, it is probably dead and needs repair or replacement.

A quick look on the MES website shows that it is the KKL adaptor not ELM for the airbag and the Red adaptor cable. for the Mk2 punto so if you are using an ELM plug/lead then this maybe the reason you cannot access the airbag ECU assuming there is no fault with the airbag.

Thanks Andy, am I right in saying, try just the red adaptor on it's own?
no you've lost me now

The ELM device connects with things like the body computer and engine ECU

The KKL device connects with the airbag. IF you only have an ELM device then you will not be able to connect with the airbag ECU

You need a KKL lead and a red adaptor to access the airbag ECU on a mk2 punto.

something like this has a switch to make the changes to the connections so you don't need seperate adaptors

Thanks Andy, as you probably gathered I'm shite with tech. Please see attached what I have, I'm now looking on egay for something like what you showed me. Very much appreciated 👍
