NOTE - HOW WE'RE DOING THINGS HAVE CHANGED - SO MAKE SURE TO READ THE WHOLE POST
MITCAR Italian Car Day
Here we go people, the next big event for FF.
When? Sunday 14th August 2011
From? 10:30am onwards
Where? Stoneleigh Abbey, nr. Coventry
How much? £5
Midlands Italian Car Day is back in the West Midlands for its 11th year. The venue is historic Stoneleigh Abbey in the Coventry area.
On Sunday 14th August we will have exclusive use of a large, prime site known as Home Park right in front of the house, which will make an imposing backdrop.
MITCAR will open at 10.30am and stewards will be on hand to park the cars by marque. The entrance fee will again be a modest £5 per Italian Car confirming a commitment to give best possible value. This will entitle all attendees to free entrance to the beautiful riverside gardens on production of the MITCAR programme.
There is a terrace with a café serving drinks, snacks and light lunches overlooking the scenic River Avon.
Additionally, there will be the option of conducted tours of the West Wing staterooms of the house lasting approximately an hour, probably around midday. This is only available to adults and will cost the discounted price of £5 per person.
As always visitors in any Italian car will be welcome and we can expect both classics and modern. There were an unprecedented 400+ cars present at the fabulous Chatsworth House last year and we look forward to continuing the upward trend.
There will again be a competition for ‘Car of the Day’ (The Camshaft Trophy and Cup) and this year this will involve a popular vote. Other awards will be made but with a change in format over previous years.
The competitive element is always light-hearted at MITCAR and sometimes the unusual and off-beat is rewarded, which might not be the case in a conventional Concours. It all adds to the fun! Prize giving will be at 3pm and, as has become the custom, all those who filled in voting papers will be entered in a prize draw.
Dealership displays are expected for Alfa Romeo and Fiat, and some other trade stands will be present.
Many will want to picnic and this year barbecues will be allowed. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash.
Want to be on the stand?
We welcome ALL members and cars on our stand - doesn't matter if your car is standard or modded. If you want to be with us, all you need to do is turn up and make your way over to our area ....
Once a member of our team has helped you park up, head over to the marquee where we'll give you a nice name badge and a raffle ticket (more on this later) before pointing you over to the *free* refreshments!
Refreshments?
Yes! From 10:30 until about 12:00 there will be free tea, coffee, soda and biscuits available in the marquee. We welcome you all to come in and have a cuppa and a good old chin wag with our friendly members
Then at around 13:00 - the BBQ will be started, where again, free food will be on offer (along with a load more tea and soda if you need it!)
Raffle Tickets?
Something a bit new for this event - every car on the stand (who then registers at the tent) will get issued a raffle ticket. At around 14:00 the draw will be held, with a number of prizes on offer - because the FF loves you
So - a quick run down?
10:30 - Gates open, get parking!
10:30 to 12:00 - Coffee hour (and a bit) in the marquee - get your coffee/tea/soda and biscuits whilst nattering with like minded Italian car lovers
13:00 - The FF BBQ - burgers, sausages and whatever else we picked up the night before from Tesco. Should be a vegetarian option available too
14:00 - Group Photoshoot and Raffle Draw
I'm scared / nervous / etc etc
Don't worry if you've never been an event before, or you have but have trouble talking to new people - we've got all this sorted. Everyone will get a name badge when they park up, and members of our team will greet you and introduce you to a few more members - no need to walk up to groups and try and "fit in" - we do it all for you!!
So no excuses!
Can't wait for this, see you all there!
Available early?
If you're available to help us setup (and it will be MUCH appreciated) - we'll be there from 9am putting up the gazebo and generally getting things ready
As a thank you, there'll then be a "Setup Team" breakfast at 10am (most likely sausages in a bun ...
)
If you need to call me for any reason - my number is 07803 136968 (this is Ben typing, not Stu!)
