We could always head over to Dunstable or Buckingham way? There must be a statley home or somewhere so we can take some nice pics :)

Well the obvious places are Stowe House (at Stowe, just round the corner from Silverstone), and Claydon House which is also near - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/claydon/visitor-information/ Stowe is also NT and both are open on the 15th.

From memory the house at Stowe is not very near the car parking - can anyone remember what the layout is? I think there's a long straight road leading to it, which might be good for pics - am I thinking of Stowe school (obviously that's there too!)?

Again from memory Claydon is better placed for photos near to the parking - anyone?

Waddesdon is not far away, but we'd be better actually meeting there another time.

When the weather's a bit better (warmer!) a meeting at West Wycombe would be a goer maybe. A visit to the infamous Hellfire Caves, then up to the top of the hill by the Golden Ball for some piccies

The Stowe car park is nowhere near the house but its not open during term time anyway. It is however VERY near the cafe which is very nice and you do not need to enter the gardens (and pay) to get to the cafe. A parking fee is applicable though.

Yes that was my memory of it.

Isn't there a long pretty driveway leading up to it? That might give scope for some pics?

Claydon would be nearer to the house & views, but not sure about photo opportunities?

The long drive is a public road with very wide verges that I think can be accessed but if its wet then I would avoid. The pull in to the school (continuation of the drive) is quite wide and we'd get some good shots there, I think.

Might be an idea then if no one else comes up with a plan.

If I bring the Sisley, we can get some good shots of a Panda tugging various Fiat's out of the boggy verges. Sounding even better!!! :D

You can help with the pulling, bring a tow rope :p

Don't bet against the mk2 Panda would be my tip. Vernon hoiked a Mercedes Sprinter van out of a snowy gateway one year - the best I've managed is towing a huge Audi estate up the snowy hills round Brimmers Farm - that was fairly impressive, but it also did it without me feeling the wheels slip! :worship:
