Anyone a budding flash designer can answer me a quick flash/actionscript question...

If I make a preloader to preload the layout images of a html site, would that still cache the relevant gif images?

if so, I might need some assistance, as my knowledge of flash/actionscript fits neatly inside the belly of an amoeba.

Here's one I made earlier....

I just cleared out the cache on my IE and then went to 'view files' - temporary internet files.
I then loaded my website what I done did recently and went into a 'project' on it:
http://www.bondbryan.com/main.htm

and lo and behold - lots of nice jpgs in my temp files.

The jpgs are loaded dynamically on the fly in Flash so I think that does mean it caches them!?

Just one thing... can Flash load gifs? or does it only allow jpg and swf? (can't remember from memory)

sterling buddy,
that's just the proof i needed.

I know how to preload images from a dynamic directory, so i reckon that's all i need.

Just checked the helpfile in Flash under loadMovie.

"url The absolute or relative URL of the SWF file or JPEG file to be loaded. "
I don't think it let's you dynamically load in GIFs. Best of luck getting it to.

Nice idea too, by the way.

you should see the preloader, it's purdy and it's only tiny.
just hope it works... it allows preloading of Images, it bloody should allow gifs.

if not, i'll make it all outta flash, it'll work better that way anyway.
