Looking for a new car - 19 yr old driver

Hi all
Looking for a "new" car - second hand, no way i can afford a new new car.

Doing alot of motorway travel Daily, insurance through the roof so i need a small engine

Want something that looks sporty - doesn't have to be fast, NO mods allowed.
High mpg
reliable
Comfy
3dr preferred
Manual
Boot spoiler & alloys
Max i can spend is £2,000 including insurance.:bang: (need scholoship for this)
"safe", less than 8 years old preferred

Any ideas?
I quite like the look of the mg zr 1.4L but i can't get in budget

With those requirements there is nothing on the market for you

Theres no way your are going to get something from 2003 (8ys old max you said) and buy it and insure it for less than 2k at 19 years old

Dont know why you looked at MG ZR if you want high MPG the MPG is cack on them certainly nothing like your punto MPG

Stick with what you have got

The purchase price of the car will have to be about about £500 (or less) to even stand a chance of getting it insured at 19 for a total price of £2000 and in London as well

Its certainly going to have to be older than 8 yrs - engines have advanced a long way since then so your mpg is going to be hit

Thats just some of reasons why it doesnt look good for you, you are going to have to rethink budget IMO

ford fiesta mk5 1.25 zetec
another punto
renault clio 1.2 maybe 1.4
ford escort 1.6 (ive heard there cheap to insure for some reason)
vauxhall corsa C 1.2

I'd say seicento is the way to go, for what you want.

But its nothing your punto isn't.

been offered a mk2 for free 58k mileage, insurance high but with in budget.
Warning lights on dash - engine management, air bags, steering on and off every now and again..

Needs new HT leads, alot of damage to rear & rear sides (both)
Red 1.2L active.

Fuel pump whining...

Easy fix? worth a look? - clearly worth a look as its free but worth getting with the issues?

Yh well, my mk1 will not pass the MOT in 2 weeks anyway - at least i wouldn't pass it, we'll see if the garage passes it if not i'll have to go with the mk2b.

Mine needs suspension at the front - and a clutch - stuck on atm... as i posted somewhere else for the clutch, the verdict was that the garage may not even want to do the MOT as the clutch not working is "such a risk" anyway...

realistically £2000 would only leave you around £500 for the car...

Insurance for a car at 19 years of age...male or female. (but worse for males is ridiculous)


Is finance an option.

We got our 1.4 bravo tjet 08 from glyn hopkins


insurance was around £1700 for my partner 21 year old male
me 19 years old with only a prov license


Its a great car, speedy, safe, sexy (i think so anyway) spacious, pretty much fulfills all practicalitys,

Good on fuel if you drive it well, throttle it everywhere and its a drinker.

Once on motorways in 6th at 80 or whatever pretty damn good on fuel.

Costing us around £220 a month. Depends what your view on getting finance is.

If its women to impress they are no more fussed about rubbish £500 cars than the rest of us.

In London what's so bad about an Oyster card and half decent mountain bike with road slicks. And the bike will keep you FIIIT
