Technical Longer crank when engine is warm?

My EVO starts easily when the engine is cold. But when the engine is warm it needs a long crank. It never fails but it cranks for long enough to make me wonder if its going to fail.

The car has had a new battery, cleaned battery contacts and an extra earth cable, all recently.

Any idea what this could be?

I‘d say put some injection cleaner in the tank. Check the color of the spark plug electrodes. Running too lean might be one possibility for a difficult start. There might be other reasons. Oxygen sensor and so on.
