Lack of Power After Breaking

Lack of Power After Breaking

I have a Bravo JTD 100 (2001).

I recently drove about 30-35 miles on the motorway and after pulling off at a slip road and breaking for the roadabout, i then found I had very little power until reaching 2500 rpm.

Any idea what this could be?

Is this a common fault?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Its not normal. The only reason that comes in mind is stuck/ semi stuck rear brakes. If the car stays like that after few starts, do a ECU reset.

Go for a quick 5-10min drive, use your brakes a few times. Then when you get back carefully touch each alloy wheel. If one is warm/hot then that'll be the one causing the probs. Then check the braking components. Jack the car up and freely spin the wheel look and feel for resistance.

Its only after a long drive and after parking up for a couple of hours (not sure that the time is relevant but i never usually drive far without staying at my destination for a while) the problem is no longer there until i go for another long drive.

It is very strange as once i am back up to a good speed (e.g. 70mph) its not a problem until i slow down again.

I have also read elswhere about EGR valves and MAF sensors causing similar problems.

If the MAF was at fault, you would have stalling at 3000rpm or the engine wont be able to go over 3000 rpm.
What the EGR goes - could be, but with no diagnostic check, hart to tell for sure.

I have seen on here that there is instructions for cleaning a EGR.

Would having a dirty EGR cause problems then?

I also wonder if my driving (sitting in traffic, driving 2miles a day) would cause any problems?

Like said, hard to say if the EGR is at fault. Cleaning it can help, but on the other hand you can damage it due it being a solenoid one and not vacuum one.
