General Key Stuck in Boot Lock

Hey im having a problem with my Panda boot lock I have a 1990 Italia, the key is stuck in it and it wont budge . We have taken the lock out and sprrayed it with WD 40 Ect still no luck.
Does anybody know if the lock strips or is it just a sealed unit?

The lock strips, you need to remove the pin in the plastic surround and the lock will pop out.

I assume it's quite straight forward, my lock has stopped locking, it still turns just doesn't lock. And just after I bought a new key too *sigh*

Well the lock is out of the car, but the problem isent that its not locking the key is stuck in the lock and wont come back out... We have taken it apart (as shown in the pictures above) but do not see a pin inside it, do you know if it comes apart from there?

On one side (I think it's first picture) there is a very narrow slot across the lock which has a couple of minute plastic pieces over a small part of the slot. Inside there is a wire "C" clip which retains the inner barrel inside the whole assembly.

It is possible to extract the barrel (and key in your case) by removing the clip _and_ get it all back together again: I had to swap the innards on the replacement locks I fitted a few weeks ago as the mounting was different - one was bolted and the other required star grip washers which I hadn't got.

I may be able to produce pictures over the weekend, if my comments aren't clear.

Not sure about the C clip, mine was different on one side of the lock you should see a small pin, can't remember if I fished it out or pushed it through But I'm sure i removed the metal piece first. Sorry for being vague but it was quite some time ago. It def comes appart though.

the arrow points to the slot which contains the "C" shaped wire retaining clip (on the two I had in pieces). I've lost the clip from these parts, so can't show you it...

There does appear to be a number of subtly different boot locks - the (second hand) replacement I got was made to be fitted in a different way to the smashed one I took off, that's why I swapped the barrel with the original, and looking more closely at your pictures the slot doesn't seem to be there.

Any sign of the pin Alan mentioned?

The part S4P1095 does look like the right part.... however, I was lucky enough to get a full (second hand) lock set for not much more than that.

Might be worth an ask.

Well we managed getting the key out of the boot lock. As for the lock itself im thinking id be better off purchasing a new one if its going to be locked again , if anyone knows where I can get a good deal on one let me know!

Scrap yard if you can find one with a key, other than that it's a trip to the dealers.

Have priced one at the dealers, was over £50 looks like either a trip to the scrap yard or purchasing one online

Buying a new set of locks and ignition lock is the best thing you will ever spend your money on!
New locks work smoothly and you only have one key for them all!!!!!!! so no more fumbling around with keys whilst parked next to a drain in the road for the dropped keys to fall down!!!!!!

Well i've just done some work on my boot lock. It's pretty easy stuff once you know where the C pin is. My lock was also broken, wouldn't lock no matter how the key was turned. So I repaired that too.

Incidently, the lock barrel looks very standard. I wouldn't be surprised if a locksmith couldn't supply you with a replacement barrel. Or even 4 for the boot, doors and ignition.
