I am breaking a 2008 1.2 panda, which has 2 keys.

What would I need to remove in order for the keys to be able to be used on another car (let's say the other car list their key)?

For example:

Ignition barrel
Door barrel
Passenger airbag key
Boot lock key
ECU? Is the immo coded to the main ECU?
Dash? Is this needed?

Any help appreciated 👍

In the past you could buy from scrapyards the chipped key /steering lock/ECU etc. and use it on another vehicle.
However I think you will find on most modern vehicles the ECU also stores the Vin.Number of the car it was supplied to originally, so probably will not be any good, also on modern ECUs they do a lot of model specific tasks that they are set up to operate with.:(
 
Key information is stored in the body computer (BSI), without out it the rest is useless, it has to be pre programmed, not many people can do this

The ECU and BSI have to match for the immobiliser light to go out,

Any ECU can be virginized for a cost, at ignition on it will copy the information from the BSI


The milage is stored in the ECU, BSI and dash. But only the dash and BSI have to match, if they don't match the display will continuously flash, most software for home use can only adjust the milage upwards


To keep it simple you need to swap the keys into a car that uses the same ECU and swap the

ECU
BSI
Dash

For the electronic parts to just plug and play

As well as the all the barrels for the mechanical parts of the keys to work

Just in addition does that mean a ECU "virginised" by a company will not show a Vin. Number from the previous vehicle and that it is not stored any where else electronically on the vehicle, such as the BCM if a diagnostic tool that normally shows the Vin . Number is used?
 
As far as I know only the CODE in the ECU is important, if the CODE sent and if it matchs it works

For the remote to work, more information between the BCM and the remote key have to match

The BCM also contains a black and a white list of keys that are accepted or not

A blank ECU will automatically write back the information that is stored in the BCM on first ignition on

Everything of importance to security such as the VIN and milage is stored on the BCM,


As for as I know other copes such as on the ECU are not used, I know the milage stored on the ECU can be different to the BCM without causing any problems, I am about 50% sure I seen a blank VIN without any problems

Don't forget the airbag switch. (Always useful to have, even if only to swap out the knackered one in the tailgate handle)
Definitely.
I already used the airbag barrel on my gf car when someone butchered the lock. Saved having to replace all of them!
