Karbine's Golf Mkiv.

Introduction

Hey guys. As some as you know I sold my Punto mk1 and decided I wanted something different altogether. Something a little more luxurios spec wise and a nice interior.
So onwards and upwards I searched for a mkiv Golf.
Found one and picked it up last night from Newcastle with my Dad and Matty1303 from here.

It's got 104k on the clock and I paid £1250 in the end.
Paint work is pretty shabby but I'm not really that fussed. It's a 1.6 8v S (100ps) and has electric adjustable heated door mirrors, 5 doors with electric windows all round, PAS, adjustable steering wheel, 4 air bags, ABS steel wheels FTW! lol

I've got a few things planned but I'm not going to the extent of what I did with the mk1.
Plans are; Lower 45 or 50mm, OEM alloys maybe GTI or something (going to do a P/shop to see what they would look like gloss black), Debadge the rear and get a smaller Sharan badge and paint that black. Paint front badge too. And fit the box so that I have remote central locking rather than standard central locking. Maybe some other suggestions would be good :)

Anyway,, pics....

No, but 17" wheels on silly low profile tyres and cheap suspension will ruin it.

Little visual stuff will get it looking nice - but have a think about the suspension and wheels.

It's a common misconception that big wheels and drastic lowering will improve the car - in most cases, unless you're spending big money and really know what you're doing, it'll do the opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

Find me 3 examples of me having a dig at centos/cinqs and I will not class your post as utter ****......

the VX sei thread, where you didnt even read the thread properly and made stupid comments regarding its handling and power without even reading the facts

And you dug up the thread where you had problems about 6 months - year later after original incident to stir the pot a bit, i commented on that thread asking why you had dug this thread up but got no reply

Thats two :p ;)

But back on topic now........

you have said that in so many different ways now its actually really boaring :bang:

No. It's not a contradiction at all. Steve or whatever his name is clearly stated that modifying your car "dramatically" lowers the selling on value. I was proving that it doesn't. I never ever once said that I made a profit on the car. Which I didn't, hell not even close! I wasn't stating that you make your money back at all...

Is that not one and the same thing then at the end of the day? You added value, yes, I agree with that, £550 of it. But what was the price you had to pay to get that? A lot more.

Again you're wrong! The E is the base model, not the S with no electric windows, no heated wing mirrors, no central locking, no electric adjustable wing mirrors, no alarm So maybe you should have done a little more research before exclaiming that statement?! flol

OK, so not absolutely base level, my mistake. My mk4 knowledge is Bora based, where the S is the base model. There is no Bora E AFAIK.

And that sir is what it boils down to

Not at all. I was being sincere. I might not agree with everything you said, but I'm a big enough boy to respect other's opinions.

I love 3 door Golfs and Boras, but not the 5 door. Just like I think 5 door mk2 Puntos are awful to look at.

However, it is good advice. You don't have to get the absolutely most expensive suspension setup but you may well regret buying the absolute cheapest.

Technically neither related to cinq's at all but well done you tried.

I'm pretty sure I gave a reply.

Take this to PM if you want to talk :)

Update!
De-badged pics in Netto car park FTW :D
and just a few progress pics as I fitted the RCL today, was fairly easy. Gotta love the build quality of VW's regarding the doors, compared to the Mk1. Proper sturdy buggers.
Dad gave me his Audi keyring that I bought him as one of his Fathers day presents! Lmao. I know it's not VW but it's atleast VAG LOL
