hey guys my mate asked to help him with his non starter isuzu 3.0 td
basically the battery was flat and after jump starting the 4x4 would not start
there was a clicking noise and sparks coming from the solenoid on top of the starter motor so we took the solenoid off to replace it
a new solenoid arrived this morning and it was different in size (longer) and slightly difference in the plunger too, but still fitted ok
a freshly charged battery was installed and all contact cleaned and after a turn of the key we heard a sort of rotating noise but still no start
it was a sort of humming noise
i bypassed the solenoid and connect a live wire to the starter motor and the starter motor does turn when power goes straight to it
but there is the weird bit i decided to install the old solenoid and we got esactly same noise (humming sort of turning noise)
as i never changed a solenoid in my life does anybody have any suggestion on what could be (or im doing) wrong in here? is solenoid at fault or starter motor itself?
