So in my 61 plate 2.3L 120 multijet, a few months ago I noticed what I assume is a misfire whilst at idle (sounds like a hiccup) whilst idling and during the misfire the rev counter doesn’t change or move.

This disappeared the next time I started the van so I forgot about it, but it’s starting to happen more and more. The van doesn’t run differently that I can notice and I have not noticed anything different regarding smoke from the exhaust (white, blue, black). No lights on the dash or codes on my cheap reader.

I’ve added wynns gold fuel injector cleaner but that hasn’t done anything. Any ideas? I’ve got some Wynns EGR cleaner that I’m going to try today but I’m not hopeful with it.

Crankshaft sensor? You may be able to match your symptoms, if you try searching the forum on this subject.

So I used the wynns EGR cleaner and that hasn’t cured the problem.

I looked into the camshaft sensor and although symptoms do include misfire, it also mentions being sluggish and poor acceleration - I’ve just drove to the alps and back and the performance was perfect, but every time I stopped the same thing happened again, usual rumble of the engine idling then a split second of what seems like the revs dropping to nothing (counter doesn’t move)

Hi guys, just thought give this a bump and hope someone in the know, notices it.

I don’t know if this has a yo thing to do with the misfire/rough idle but it seems as though one of the injectors has maybe a weep, as all the other 3 are dry?…

I also took a little video of the rough idle if someone wouldn’t mind taking a look (ignore the steam, just gave the oil and crud a clean off the engine) …

Hi My 2008 Ducato 2.3 multijet does the same . Did anyone get to the bottom of this. Starting to get very frustrating for my self and the mechanic that has offered a lot of help and time trying to get to the bottom. On start up the engine fires up no problem but the idle is not consistent after about a minute it clears and runs fine. When moving away in first gear it’s poor lunges about until you get into second and all is fine. Reverse gear is the same it lunges about.
I was getting a code on the computer and was pointing to the fuel rail pressure sensor. This has been changed along with the following. Fuel injectors, Egr, Egr solenoid, lift pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator,. Cam shaft sensor and crank sensor Only thing I have not done is the high pressure fuel pump but I’m not convinced it’s this as the performance when pulling away is still there.
