Hi. Been reading forum for a while but this is my first post. Our van is a 2005 2.3 diesel, an x 244 and the immobiliser has worked. IE we are stuck.
This is the third time this year that this has happened and as we occasionally travel on the continent. Enough said.

Cured immobiliser problems before by cleaning terminals, but this is a new one and it hasn't worked this time.
The immobiliser light doesn't flash on or stay on at all when I switch on. All the other lights on the dash work.
I've checked the usual fuses and all OK.
Van had been stood a month and was a bit sluggish but turned over.
Garage friend used his code reader, found a fault, N1600 "Electronic key code not received", cleared it but when we switched on it returned.
Any ideas??
I've read about bypass codes from fiat. Can any agent obtain them. I presume I'll need logbook and id, passport or similar?
Has anyone had experience of the bypass plugs that fit in the EOBD Sockets. The one advertised at the moment is for a ducato x250. Do the do them for 244s?
Has any one had the immobiliser totally removed from the ECU? Was it successful and who does it.
Anyway. That's it, I think.
Dave

Hi
I have a 2006 reg Fiat ducato 2.8jtd x244 but the ecu was dated 2005. I have just had the immobiliser removed from the ecu because mine was playing up and I didn’t want to get stranded. The company was in Westbury wilts which was good for me as I took the ecu out and then delivered to them and picked it back up when completed which was the following day. You will need a diagnostics tool as they do say that errors can occurs when you put ecu back in the Motorhome. I only have a basic one but it cleared the codes and now I don’t need to worry about the padlock light and issues around it.

Good afternoon Dave
The company I used is
ECU Decode LIMITED
Wessex House
40 Station Road
Westbury

They have a web site which you can go on helpful to identify your ecu but I did phone them as well all work guaranteed for 12months
Cheers Paul

The eLearn diagram for the code system, does not show any ignition connection to the code receiver. I doubt that the code receiver continuously searches for a key. Therefore the wake up signal may well come from the ECU which has an ignition on supply. I do not know what form of handshake there is between the two devices, but could it be the case that the communication connection is faulty, and the ECU is sending out a code request to the code receiver which is not receiving it. The code could not then be returned to the ECU, as indicated by the fault code?

The ground and signal connections between the ECU and code receiver, are routed via connector D104. This connector is located inside the engine bay fusebox housing, and under the actual fuseboard assembly. Perhaps worth checking for any problems at that connector?

Hi Communicator.
Wow. The circuit diagram is slowly beginning to make sense so thanks. Great.
Like your reasoning about ECU to code receiver.
Will dig in and check. Thanks.
