General I have a Doblo High Roof 55 plate 1,9 JTD will not go into 4th gear

When you say it won’t go in do you mean there’s resistance at the gate where 4th gear is or it grinds when you try? Will it go into 4th gear parked up with the engine off?

drives perfect in all the gears but 4th, no grind, blocked at the gate, do you think I can fix this, thanks

with engine off, complete block

So if it won’t go in directly from the selector then my guessing is it’s a problem with the box itself, can’t see what else it could be?

Then i’d say you have 2 choices, A. Live with it as it is until something else breaks and go 1,2,3,5,6 or B. The box has got to come out.

Bit beyond my pay grade that one, I leave gearbox rebuilding to the professionals. For me it’d be either replace with a low mileage box and take a chance or hand the box over for a rebuild. All depends on budget + how long it can be off the road for

ok, been down the route of rebuild, £1100, still trying to get over that quote, best idea, go to a breaker, but look inside the box first, regards
