Hi all
I've been chainging the head gasket on my 999 fire engine and whilst taking off the cam discovered that one of the ends of the oil feed pipe has come loose. It doesn't look like it is soldered more like some sort of glue.I have tried locktite hydraulic and this does not seem to harden does anybody have a solution?

Thanks

Rick

I don't think they'd be that expensive to buy new, so why not replace it for piece of mind? And I'm not sure they have any 'glue' or sealant, more likely it's a press fit in the oilway. That's how the spray bars were fitted to the Ford Pinto engines but I've never had to change one on a Fiat FIRE so am not 100% sure.

Hi
No the pipe has actually come out of the piece that the banjo goes through it litterally fell of when I lifted the cam clear.

Ah! yes it will do as you have had to remove all of the bolts to remove the cam. It does just lift off, so doesn't sound like you have a problem unless it has snapped at the front. The front piece should push in finger tight but no more than that.

Why didn't you remove it before lifting the cam out?

why did you need to remove the cam to change the head gasket ?

Hi
I had to remove the cam as I had to skim the head.I loosened the cam caps prised out the oil feed from the head and lifted everything cam ,cam caps bolts all together out of the way it was then that i noticed that one of the pipes had separated from the piece the banjo goes through. These must presumably seal they cant just be a push fit as you would loose oil pressure.?

The bolts pretty much hold it in place and once the rocker cover is on would prevent it from popping out but as said it just pushes in no need for sealant etc

Ok so its supposed to be that way had me worried.
Just seemed odd to me.
Many thanks.

So you want pics eh...
After a wash and brush up and test drive.
The offending blown head gasket.Went 2 yrs ago and I didn't skim the head that time. This time skimmed the head new head bolts cam belt and alternator belt.I don't want to have to do that job again any time soon.
