Hi all, I've decided that my heater temperature control flap thingy for the drivers side cliamte control is in need of replacement. It onlt blows warmto hot air, never cold.

I've taken off both of the side panels to have a look around (drivers side and passenger) and I can find none of the parts that I expected. Namely control wheels, motors linkages etc. I've had a look on e-learn and the procedure for looking at anything to do with the AC/heating system is to remove the dashboard entirely, as in, steering wheel off, remove both airbags, remove dashboard clocks, radio, heater controls, centre tunnel inc. gear shift and a whole other load of bits.

Anyone done any work on the heater control flap things, ideally with pictures. Before I'm told to go do a search, I have. I get a lot of 'you should see' and 'it may be that' and 'I've heard that' nobody who has actually done this job thenselves! I'm really looking for first hand instructions on what to do, very ideally with pictures!

Finally, the car was at FIAT having a alarm siren replaced just before I noticed this and I got it back without the two windscreen wiper bolt covers, as its a stoneacre dealer, I called to ask where they have gone and been told I'd be called back soon, (Still waiting, that was a week ago) Is it possible that the windscreen nut covers could have gotten into the control flap mechanism and be causing the problem?

Cheers

Andy

Are you talking about the heater vents or something different connected to the AC/Heater system? I'm not following you entirely. ><

In the heating/AC system in the middle of the dash, there are a set of pipes and ducts that get air from the outside, over the heater matrix, or the AC evaporator and then into the car. The flow of air over either the heater or AC matrix are controlled by plastic flaps inside the heating system. On my car the one that controls the temperature on the drivers side has jammed, broken so I only get warm or hot air, no matter what the setting. The passenger side works fine and dandy giving AC chilled air, through to hot air depending on how you set the controls on the climate control panel.

I'm looking for someone who has had a go at replacing the motor, the flap, whatever is likely to have broken so I can have a go at fixing mine, ideally without removing the dashboard. I'm happy to pull the dash, but as I have only one car, I'll lose at least one weekend doing it and pulling the offending part, the putting it back together to drive, then another to do the same with a replacement part! I'm looking for a shortcut, ideally with pictures!

You really cant get access to much without removing the dash. Mine was intermittently sticking and I took the climate controls / stereo, center console etc out but there is not much access. I believe it is a dashboard out job.

i have taken one out of a car im breaking and its a dash out job to get to anything on the heater box
