General How many keys?

...but could also mean unstable and inefficient braking if the system isn't working.

Plus it's an MOT fail.

ABS systems are fail safe. Just means the car will have breaking like a car without ABS.

Also only an MOT failiure if the light stays on iirc  If off they'll just think it hasn't got it?

Where under the bonnet do I need to be looking for an ABS modual to know if it's got it or not?

According to the handbook, if the EBD isn't working then the rear wheels can lock before the fronts under hard braking. Cue the back of the car overtaking the front!

If the tester checks thoroughly he should look for the ABS check lamp on start-up. In reality you may well get past the MOT.

The locking fuel cap was on some early Active's here as standard although not on the higher spec cars...

Thanks for that. Will look into it a bear it in mind! Could be that the seller is correct and the car hasn't ABS, according to a few other sites its only Dynamic and above have ABS :(

Looking at getting a 2004 Active mk3 for my sister. How many keys do they come with new? Is it 2 or 3? Also are there certain colours I need to get, or can Fiat cut another from any key?

How much roughly do Fiat charge for a replacement.

Also, do the Active spec come with central locking?

Many thanks.

Jon.

How much you looking to spend on an active? I know an 04 dynamic looking for a new home

As for locking fuel caps i'm getting a little confused, are you all saying that when you open the flap the fuel cap hasnt a slot in it for the key to lock it?

As for the ABS I think the 04 dynamics have got it, because i'm sure i've felt it kick in a few times on bad surfaces.

wow looks like I got a locking cap on mine then. Previous owner must have paid extra for it. Lucky me I suppose I thought they were all locking

Locking fuel caps were standard pre-2005. Don't know why they did away with it.

ABS was not standard in all early Actives. I remember that without ABS it was about £600 cheaper...

1.2 is better than 1.1 - Cheaper to run, more efficient.

The ebay car you had linked to is no longer available? I'm presuming it was a particularly cheap 1.1. Was it in an accident? You'd need to check all that out...

Difference in price to factory between locking and non-locking fuel cap, say £5, produce 100,000 cars, saving is £500,000, yes, half a million.
Small economies make big differences when you're producing lots of cars.

I ordered a replacement key from my local fiat dealer, £124 + VAT! Not much choice though, as has already been mentioned the keys can't be programmed by your average cobbler!

I agree about the locking fuel cap as well, what were fiat thinking!?

Got a quote yesterday. None remote key, £125 all in. Oh well. If the one key was to be lost would it mean I'd need a new lock set  Of just wait a while for Fiat to order one

On the plus side though. The active has come with a locking fuel cap!

A Google search throws up a number of independent companies who can provide replacement keys complete with transponders.
They do not publish prices but it might be worth your while getting a quote from someone else, since £125 for a key is a lot of money.
As I've never used any of these companies I will not mention those that I found as I don't want to send you to someone who may not be reliable.

Am I hallucinating, or is that Panda fuel cap wedged between a pair of pale but ultimately quite sexy thighs?
Sorry, no, can't be true, I must get out more.
