Something a lot of chair, sofa and bed manufacturers should consider.
The height needs to be suitable to the needs of the user.

Think about a time when you've had a really heavy day & you wake up a bit stiff with a few aches etc. How easy do you find standing to get out of bed?

I'm quite tall (6'4") and my bed height is 650mm (it's a very firm spongy mattress - something about latest tech in sleep something blah blah NASA blah blah)

A standard base height is generally 16" with the castors. Frames will vary quite a bit in height and also if the mattress will sit on top of the frame or if the mattress sits inside the frame.

So size will really only matter depending on the base it is going to be put on.

Cheers slude and co.
gonna risk it and go higher, but it is 100mm higher than current. which since I'v never had a problem with. little hesitant but.

should have posted this to begin with.
the extra height is to accommodate a monitor.
under the bed, and some mechanism. The monitor could be mounted to the bottom of bed, but rather not

the plan is something similar to this. but alot less wood. more aluminium and steel.

not finished the design, yet so its very work in progress

I just measured my home made bed (made for a budget, not to look good, so no photos...)
700mm to top of matress, but it's a REALLY thick memory foam matress...
It's very high for small children to get on to the top of, so if you have small kids or maybe a small dog, this could either be a good or bad thing, depending whether you want them in with you!
