For this thread you have to imagine that you've driven all night and arrived in Italy early in the morning for a holiday.

So its time to have your first Italian breakfast...what are you going to have? And where are you going to eat it?

For me its croissants at the Colleseum.

Bacon eggs, fried spud, fried bread and fired bread with a mug of tea. It pays to take them some top culinary culture. I did have some REALLY tasy italian sausages while I ws over there. I wish we could get them here. Probably local fayre. If I could afford to go back to the Villa we stayed in on the edge of Lake COmo I might just become an Italian.

I forgot about the coffee, not sure which one I want, something really strong!

I'd also forgot about the pastries over there. When I went to Rome we found the most amazing small cake shop, sublime they were.

The classic. Cappuccino and a cigarette. I don't even smoke. But I guess I'm on holiday.

I'm a rustic simpleton, so it'll be the terrace of a dingy bar in some hillside village in the alps.

I can almost feel the warmth of the sun already. I also feel hungry. There'll be some elderly biscuits and cornettos on the bar, but I think I'll pass. I'll be thinking about lunch instead. Or, like TPN, about bacon sarnies.

Actually, that's a thought: stock up on pastries in France and nip over the border in the alps for some decent coffee on the Italian side :)

Clandestine chomping of illegally imported contraband croissants whilst no one's looking. Best of both worlds!
