General Horn goes where?

I've looked everywhere, even checked all parts of the Haynes manual but no where tells you were the horn is fitted Please can someone point out on the picture, or give me some direction please. I am getting tired out of shouting BEEEEEPPP out the window

Not necessarily..

Mine packed up a while back (about a week before the MOT, typically ) but I couldn't be doing with taking the bumper off. I bought a generic horn for £5 from a local motor factor, and mounted it in the engine bay. As the horn wires are connected on 1/4" spade terminals, it was simply a case of yanking on the wires until they came loose from the defunct one, pulling them through the hole in the front valance (see pic) and connecting them up to the new one in the engine bay.

Jim very kindly took a photo of the horn location at the time and posted it up (as Juppy's front bumper was off), which was most helpful..

Its really easy to get the bumper off, just a few bolts and bingo

Easier said than done (although I give up easily when its cold and windy), I ended up mounting twin air-horns in the engine bay.

Wired them in with a relay because they're rather powerful, and didn't realise that the horn button earths the horn rather than send a current to the horn (didn't bother with the manual). So when I connected mine they went off for sometime until I found the wire cutters

To remove the front bumper you need to remove the arch liners which really means removing the front wheels too. Theres 3 bolts on each side

That'll be where I went wrong. I'll give it a try as its only the bumpers that are left of come off of the Donor Panda before it unfortunatly goes to the crusher.

just need to double check the wiring as its a loop to earth horn switch which can be done with the supplied relay (there was a diagram on the box when i bought mine

What's the best bet.... getting a new horn and as suggested, mount it in the engine bay? Could it possibly be the horn switch behind the centre pad of the steering wheel?

Hey there!

I would check the horn button first yes, mine is a bit tempermental sometimes. The connectors can wear out if not lubricated. you'll need to use some sort of switch lubricant if your going to as it will need to conduct.

Also try fiddling with the wires that connect to the horn as it may be a case of a lose connection or corroded contacts. That is if its not a fuse of course!

If not I guess a new horn is in order then.

I have now had a look at it...well the push pad and all seems well there - just some contacts and a couple of springs. I was going to connect the two springs together to make the circuit but I was only guessing there.

After reading on this thread - I'm not impressed with the horn placement either. I can see it from under the bumper. Looks like the contacts are on the top of it though. I don't fancy having to take the bumper off just to check.

I might try hitting it with a stick a few times and see if it bursts into life! Otherwise, I'll have to try and trace the wires for a new horn.

Floyd never had a horn in the first place, could do with one. Amazing the amount of drivers that don't "see" your Panda on the road.

Yes they are rubbish ... and in a stupid place :bang:
We replace them as a matter of course when we buy a Panda . Just cut the wires, forget the dreadful thing and wire in a pair of good Italian airhorns They fit perfectly on the front of the fan 'box', if it's a Sisely; or anywhere on the o/s if it isn't.
