Anyone experienced this?

I think I can feel a slight hiccup when accelerating in second gear. By which I mean that for a fraction of a second the car stops accelerating, as if no fuel is getting through, then carries on OK. It's a JTD of March 2000 vintage.

Cheers.

I had a fiesta that did that. I have no idea why though. It figured that it was a petrol problem but you say yours is a diesel.

It only happened when I put my foot down so I guessed that it could be like flooding the engine.

Check your battery connections. My fiesta set on fire due to a loose battery wire. As it was the only car I have had which had an acceleration problem and the only car I have had which set on fire while I was driving it, the two could be linked. Might be the loose wire momentarily stop the fuel igniting.

Just guessing though. I could be completely wrong.

Doubt it. The battery is used to charge the start, not the running. This is done by the alternator.

Anyway, it is most likely to be either a) a fuelling issue (air getting in to the line) if it is random or b) if it happens at specific revs it is likely to be a glitch on the ECU. Get the ECU read; it is likely one of the parameters for fuel and air is slightly out ;)

Interested to see your switch - how does the A2 compare to the Multipla, and does the rear bench seat get 3 kids in, 1 of whom is 18 months old in a big car seat.
