Evening :)

I bought a neat 2001 Fiat Ducato Swift 1.9 Diesel Mondial GT last year and its been great.

We were flooded out on our drive back in January and although I initially thought the van was high enough off the ground to have not had any problems its been playing up a bit every since ... culminating in a total refusal to start in the last two weeks.

I'm thinking its immobiliser related and I've read a few threads on here but nothing specific to my model or problems ... as far as I can tell! ... I'm not a mechanic ... just know the basics :)

Can anyone point me at the correct place to post up mechanical / technical questions please ... then I'll get into the the specifics of whats happening ... or not happening! :)

Thanks in advance,

Cheers

Ed

There is a Technical section where you can post and also specific model areas.
However in general terms, where was the "Plimsoll Line";)
How high up the vehicle did water reach including any surge?
My thoughts are, it would have to be quite high to affect immobiliser electrics, incidentally does the immobiliser light come on with ignition and go off before turning the key to start, the same as before?
I trust no "dodgy " aftermarket alarm immobiliser system.
In a different direction, depending on water height and position of fuel tank, plus you say it ran but played up a bit since the flooding, is there any chance it got water into the fuel tank/system.
I assuming if water got into the air intake side then shortly after turning the key the first time, you would have sucked in enough water to give the engine "hydraulic lock" and terminally destroy it, so you wouldn't have been able to run anywhere from that point on.:(
What was the way you first noticed problems?
Engine Series number etc. may help others on Forum to advise better also.
