digital barrel... possibly the the transponder ring that sits around the ignition barrel for the whole code thing that never really fails on stilos 
It may refer to the electric steering lock used on EasyGo (keyless entry) equiped cars.
Where did the phrase "digital barrel" come from?

£300 for a digital barrel? Is it ECU?
It appears that nobody knows what a "digital barrel" is.
If it was an ECU, it would be called an ECU.
