Thanks for letting me join the Fiat Forum. I've had a few Fiats in my many years of driving starting with an Autobianchi 500 van that I bought (with borrowed cash!) for £50 (Reg OCM 950) in 1970. It was without doubt a wreck but it got me back and forth to Art college in Warrington for 12 months. My pal who was a trainee mechanic rebuilt the engine and despite having about 20 nuts and bolts etc. left over, it worked perfectly! Move on some years and I bought a new 127 1050CL in 1977 and eventually had a 1990 Tempra 1.8iesx, which was a great car. I now have a 1992 141a Panda Sky (which is why I'm here) and a new 500e pure electric. I won't mention the Spanish Seat 850, bought as a commuter car - it was awful. I compete in long distance Trials, on such events as The Exeter, Lands End and Edinburgh Classic Trials. I successfully used my Panda for the Exeter Trial this year but realised it needs more power. So I'm here to find out how this can be achieved.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry this has been a while. I have a book Great Small Fiats by Phil Ward published by Veloce Classical reprint series. www. veloce.co.uk which is a good general startimng place for ideas. Loads of people on here do stuff to their cars but I dont know if any of it does much good or if they ever test the output of their work. I hope you can get a copy of this book. I love it.

Thanks. Someone suggested that I could have the engine changed for a more powerful Fire unit and this is possibly the easiest route to take. However, I'm not sure which cars use them or what size they are. Is the Punto the most powerful Fire unit?
