Hello all! I am a New user on this forum and second time Fiat owner.

My first Fiat was UNO 45 5door. 1990 or something.

Now I just bought me a 2009 Grande Punto 1.3mulitjet. 5speed trans. 124000km

Bought it useen at auction😉

It does have two major issues. Clutch and power steering... Both common problems I have learned.

I have read all threads on clutch issues on the Grande Punto. One reported issue reacuring after clutch change. Many threads does not say what workshop find or did to mend the issues.

I suspect worn fingers and thrustbearing but there no noise.

I have changed the slave cylinder. I have bled the system(with brake bleeder) , but there is no change.
Clutch barely disengage when floored. Reverse gear grinds😬

Ok. So for the questions:
Is failure of clutch thrust bearing common on these?
What is the measurment of correct movement on clutch arm?

I don't see much value in changing just the thrust bearing, you may as well change the lot.

With those problems you could put it back in the auction and buy another.
If I have to pull the trans off i will change the lot. Was hoping to avoid it.. Winter is coming and have to do it on our lawn.

Hi and welcome :)
This is from 1.2 petrol so might not be the same but shows release arm travel around 20mm:

Awsome! Thank you!

I would also chime in on the suggestion of changing the lot. Two days of laying on some grass may well be significantly better than many weekends staring under the bonnet in the cold.

I’m not sure if these had a duel mass fly wheel or perhaps some did and some didn’t, however the milage is about end of life for the OE clutch the flywheel as well if it’s a DMF.

There is also the possibility on these cars of crank seal leaking into the bell housing, fouling the clutch and causing disengagement issues (been there done that) and the without knowing the state of the spring you’re really just making guesses in the dark.

I’ve done a clutch on this engine the worst part is removing all the annoying hoses pipes and battery tray to get to the gearbox, but other wise, just unbolt either the centre nut of the drive shaft on the passenger side. Unbolt the lower arm from the chassis and pull the shaft, then there are something like ?6 bolts that hold the gear box in place + a gearbox mount. (I have to confess it was about 2014 I last did one) the clutch itself is easy , mine was not a DMF model but that’s just a few more bolts once the clutch is off.

Anyway you can get your hands on an inspection camera and take a look inside the bell housing to check for any fluids that shouldn’t be in there?

Do you have find a soltution for the problem, not engaging.
Yesterday i had the same problem with my wife's car, Punto 2017 1.3.. Not possible to get in in 1 gear. Not engaging properly. Thanks.
