Hi, I have a 2014 Ducato Coachbuilt motorhome and I’m not sure which type of handbrake it has. I need to adjust it and need to know if it’s a DIY job.
If anyone has done this task was it straightforward.

Thanks.

It has the 'top hat ' system i.e. the handbrake is shoe operated within a drum which is part of the rear disc. It is DIY adjustable but you must follow the correct procedure. There are examples of the system on youtube such as

Good post rayc. Adjustment is not just a matter of taking up the slack in the cable. There are 2 adjustment points for a reason. The cable needs to be pulling at the right angle to increase the leverage and apply enough pressure. I have heard of people replacing drums and shoes when all that was neded was correct adjustment of the cables.

Hi, Thanks for the replies very informative and hopefully someone else will have benefitted from it as well.:):)
