Technical Gearbox Problems- solved!

I have endured a very awkward to use gearbox on my Panda 4x4 for a couple of years now. A search quick search through the fiat forum suggested all sorts of remedies, but in reality the problem was laughably simplistic to solve.

Upon lifting the gear lever gaiter inside the car I found the 10mm nut on the lever selector had come free. One minute later, the nut was reattached and everything was back to normal. Simple!

Hope this helps somebody- just goes to prove that a seeming difficult problem isn't necessarily that.

Always start with the simple stuff...most of the stuff on here deals with more hidden, common faults and complicated stuff.

Good you noticed it eventually...well done on the fix and your choice of car...

A friend of mine asked if I could adjust his clutch during a rare meet up at a pub one evening.

Turned out to be the same problem as yours and not the clutch at all. So at about midnight on a freezing cold December night I pinched the nut from the air filter housing to fix it. Next day he told me it was like I had fitted a new gearbox.
