Just thought I'd post about how Sisley's gearbox oil change went.
Replaced the sulphur smelling oil with Millers Gear Oil 90 GL-3. Got it from www.performance-oils.co.uk. Quick delivery.(y)
Both the level/filler plug and the drain plug are 12mm allen keys not the 10 as specified in the Porter manual. Approx 2 litres came out so think the box is either leaking or when the garage replaced the driveshaft gaiters and 'topped up' the box, they didn't. Used a hose pipe length to refill as its abit difficult to get the bottle anywhere near the filler hole. Box is making less noise now and gears are still as smooth as they were before.

Also got the new vacuum advance unit on ( £25 from local Fiat dealer ) so hopefully no more cutting out at junctions.:)

Oil capacity of the older FIRE gearboxes is 2.4 litres so yours sounds about right. If the garage changed the inner driveshaft gaitors they would have had to fill it up with oil as the gaitors are the 'wet' type (they hold the gearbox oil in). If your old oil smelt of sulphur then it must have been an EP oil, which I think is incorrect for these gearboxes?
