General Fuel economy

Hi Guys, happy new year to everyone.

Looking for some help again, my fuel economy has dropped drastically best I can get now is 49.1 on the motorway!!! when I used to get 65,

I had a problem with the waste gate being sized, was told by Fiat that I needed a new turbo? but a good mechanic I know has been able to free it, but since then the economy has plummeted!! And the engine sounds very rough and throaty when accelerating.

Anyone got any Idea's? (excuse the pun)

I think you have answered your own question. Get the work done on the car checked out.

Also, the cold weather will make a difference.

Were you really doing 65mpg? at what speed? if it is closer to 55mpg which is what I would think a normal use Idea would give (our Panda was 60mpg) then losing 10% in the cold weather might make it seem reasonable.

Did you calculate the 65 or go off the computer?

Yes I really was getting 65mpg on the motorway my best today at 56mph is 73!!!

Only just got my car back from Marsons it cost me £700 for a new hydraulic control pump? this is the thing that controls the gear change on the duel logic system and now i need a new clutch and turbo!!!!! cheapest turbo i have found is £295 plus vat ..................
