I seem to remember Fiat once proudly announcing ‘a 4x4 for everyone and a 4x4 for every Fiat’ so I’ll believe it when I see it
Didn't Renault 4s and Citroen 2CVs offer a conversion at one time?
 
I wonder how much torque the rear electric motor provides?48V sounds a bit e-bike-ish.

And can you switch off the ICE to get RWD vans like in the good old days?

Yes, and the Kangoo, burlingo and a few others…I was impressed with a suitably booted Kangoo Trekka, but you did notice the wider track and longer wheelbase for catching the ground, despite the extra height

All I can say is it works in the Avenger and Compass 4XE, but that’s on road and a bit of farm track…no idea what it’s like truly off road!
