General Fixed glass roof or normal roof

It is completely up to you! Long time ago I had Mazda with sun roof and I loved it... More recently I had 500 Sport (remember those?;)) with solid roof and I loved it... Now I have cave like black-lined Punto Abarth solid roof and, did I mention it - black as raven's wing inside - and I adore it!!! Try both and see what you prefer...Simples!

I do think the fixed glass roof makes the car feel bigger inside & I'm glad I've got one, but then again I can't honestly say I'm aware it's not there when I'm in the Panda.

So if you like it & can afford it, I'd say go for it, but if for any reason you end up without one, don't sweat unduly either.

Hi - is this a FIAT accessory as when I was selecting our model I noticed that the accessory list listed one but stated it wasn't suitable for glass roof versions...

so I'm guessing it must be an after 'market' model.

Couldn't find a FIAT roof rack on their accessory web site. Did FIAT list one ?

OP has picked a Lounge. It's always worth sitting in the passenger seat beforehand which I would imagine he did.

I have the electric sunroof and I love it! I used to have a convertible car, so it was a must for me to go for it! I'm a bit short (1.60 cm) lol so I cannot tell about the headroom because i fit fine no matter what . Go for it fixed or not it's great :)

Yes me too tilt and slide ,great isn`t it:D

Just also looked in the 'Customisations' brochure we got and can't find one in there either just a tailgate rack for skis and snowboards - so I'm doubting myself now - it may have been an after market set I've seen....:)

I went for a few test drives in the three and a half years I was waiting to make my purchase making sure of what I wanted in my spec, so “which roof”questions also came up for me.

Test drove a 1.4 sport with solid metal roof. It had the spoiler on the backand with tinted rear windows, I thought it was just far too dark inside - despite it being ivory ambience.

I sat inside a byDiesel edition in the showroom - it had the opening roof but it seemed like my eyebrows were level with the edge, so I was worried that itreally had lost a lot of headroom if at nearly 5'6" my head was stickingout of the roof. But sales staff saidthe seat was really up very high. It was actually an already sold car, so we couldn’tadjust things and see, until a demonstrator came in which we could test-drive on the road.

I wasn't convinced I could live with the fixed glass roof, forever wishing it would open.

I hadn't actually costed in a sunroof at all, initially thinking climate control option and extra light with the fixed one would do.

In a very, very, wet summer last year, the sun burst through after a shower, so we could open the roof in the test drive after all. The opening mechanism was very smooth and at 50mph it wasn't overbearingly loud. I instantly knew I wanted the opening roof and haven’t regretted it at all, it was the right decision for me, adding sensory input to my journey.

Most space, metal roof.

Less one inch for fixed glass choice

Less again; touch the sky!

I mean that between the metal, the fixed and the opening roof, we're talking two inches max between them. Seat positioning also factors in (as my sit-in the byDiesel proved). Today I noted at least an inch of headroom for me. Hubby’s hair does touch the headlining, I’ve just asked him (he’s 6'2") and he said that's a feature which tells him to get a haircut! The opening roof definitely adds to the joy of driving my 500 (last line being the exception - that's when I can't close my roof fast enough!)

Hear birdsong in trees

Feel the sun, be cooled by mist

See rainbows ahead

Catch twigs and oak leaves

Smell that morning bacon, mmm

Quick Close, smoker ahead!

That was a very nice posting TheCurleyOne.(y)
Hopefully someone on the FF will 'give a hand' to change the font ;) so that it's easier to read. For me personally it can be a little frustrating trying to successfully post and now resort to doing a 'quick copy' before pressing the 'Submit reply' button (Thankfully for the FF I've lost a few postings :)). Getting the font type to Verdana isn't always possible in the font change and I've had to resort to putting it into Word and then pasting it back out only to find the spacing between some of the words gets lost.:bang:

Agree with everything said here and we both just spent 15mins trying to figure out how to ... and failed! Had a Haiku vibe late last night and couldn't be bothered to cut the posting down near to 1am - so thought a condensed font might help. Clearly (er...) it didn't, seems Arial Narrow just doesn't look the same in forum-world as it does in Word. I had to put spaces back in again too, aargh - it looked like a bad Kindle book. Any kind moderator is welcome to help get the post into Verdana (please and thanks!) Thanks for the font heads-up (y).
