Fitting a Punto 60 throttle body

I've put this in "lets talk Fiat" as I reckon more Cinq 1108cc owners will have done this than Punto owners.

I've just bought a Punto 60 throttle body off ebay (looks like new, done 30000 miles and is 32 quid delivered ). 2 reasons for this: (a) I suspect that my Punto 55's rich running and crappy economy is down to a shot throttle potentiometer, and (b) the 60 TB is supposed to give a bit more power on the 1108 motor

What I want to know is, how hard are they to fit? Obviously gonna be a bit of a cow what with all the wires and pipes and things, but is there any trick to it, like depressurising fuel lines, removing air locks, etc etc?

when i did engine swap i didnt depressurise anything, just yanked pipes off (expect bit of petrol to come out of the petrol pipe though )

i did the same... just took the pipes off... held a cup under to catch petrol/coolant etc an that was it.. took about 30mins to do. nothing actually complicated about doing it.. straight swap, bolt off bolt on.

When I fitted my Punto 60 Throttle body to my Cinq it was a striaght swap, did not depressurise anything. I swapped over the injector as I did not get one with the Punto 60 Throttle body. You could get away with using the top section of the 1108 Throttle body onto the bottom section of the of the Punto 60 Throttle body; meaning you don't have to remove any fuel lines. Just swap over the section of each throttle that holds the buttery fly. It is worth using a Punto 60 spacer as well as the 1108 Throttle body spacer has a smaller bore (30mm).

The vaccum pipe that connects to the under side of the airbox and runs to the back of the 1108 throttle body had to be removed as the there is no where to connect it to the back Punto 60 Thorttle body.

Cheers guys, shouldn't be too bad a job then.

I'll just block that vacuum pipe off (it fits underneath my K&N) so that the engine doesn't suck any crap in through it.

Almost forgot about the spacer; has anyone got a Punto 60 spacer? Or knows how much they are from Fiat?

Top bombing! I'd best get one ordered ASAP then, knowing Fiat dealers it'll probably take longer for Fiat to get one in than for the TB to arrive

i got one from my fiat dealer a couple of weeks ago, it was £6 something and 2 days for it to be delivered.

As far as depressurising goes, just open the fuel cap and leave it off while you do it. Same with the expansion tank lid. You're gonna need new jubilee clips too to replace the "single use only" Fiat clips once the pipes are replaced. B&Q do some tiny ones, you only need 4. Make sure you have some nuts handy too to block up the pipes while you do the swap. I'd advise doing a pair at a time (ie. fuel first, then coolant. And swap over the pipes leading out of the tb first) There are arrows marked on the tb itself showing which way the fluid is to flow.

Make sure you plug everything back in too, that's always funny when you forget something!
