I have a 2016 Fiat Tipo 1.6 diesel. For some time now, I’ve been unable to refuel the car normally, as the fuel pump nozzle keeps clicking off constantly. At first, I thought the problem was with the pump itself, but I’ve now tried at least four different stations and the issue persists everywhere.

Before I start digging around the car, I wanted to ask if anyone has any advice on where to start. From what I’ve read online, it could be an issue with the fuel tank venting system.

Try angling / rotating the filler nozzle 🤔

A 9 o' clock position works well on my other Italian cars 😉

Yes I used to have to do this on the Bravo then it would fill fine. You probably need an elegany italian suit and to stand in a special italian way so it all looks 'normal' It was an odd angle to hold the nozzle, but was as you say about 9 O clock. (handle of the nozzle)

Thanks for the tips. I’ll try different positions of nozzle on the next refueling.
Something is wrong though, because the nozzle keeps shutting off. I can’t even pump a deciliter, even when the tank is completely empty.

Not many of those left.. 😑

I suspect your location has a different design of nozzle than in Italian ServiceStations? 🤔

That's true. Usually, it's students who only know how to operate the cash register. Or not even that.

This has been happening to me during the last few refueling, and with each one, it’s been getting worse.

I assume that the fuel nozzle must be made according to some standard. Now that it's been messing with me so much, I'll pay attention to everything during my next refueling.
