Why not just have it done at a local garage and save yourself a huge amount more rather than pay the rip off dealership prices (even with their 'special offers' :rolleyes:)

for warranty you have to use original parts and a vat garage so that's not cheap will be checking prices though. but the package deal is a good price !!

It's way cheaper than what Fiayt charge. I just picked up everything from Fiat for my first service for £30. They went through the Service Sheet and gave me everything I needed for the 18k service. Asked them when I did my intentions and they said there wasn't a problem with what I was doing. They told me I would just need to show my service book, stamped with the VAT registered garage, if I had a warrenty claim in future. Also, as I was doing, have the official Fiat parts used.

My local garage took another £30 for the work.

£60. Alot cheaper than what Fiat charge for the same thing.

30 quid for parts thats cheap what oil did they put in for that price ?

I thought it was just about right for parts. Any other car I have had (Renault, Peugeot etc) have all charged about £30-£40 for service parts when I have needed them.

The recommended Selenia oil (sorry if spelt wrong :p) that Fiat say is best to use was put in.

It's a friends garage so I get a friend discount too :D but he only charges £50 for Joe Blogg off the street. He basically gets a service sheet of the car and does all the checks etc that the manufacturer recommend are done at each specific service.

I've took all my cars to him and have never had any problem with any warrenty issue work I have had to have done no matter the dealer (Renault, Peugeot, BMW, Ford, Mitsubishi) a few have actually asked who serviced it as everything was done exactly as it should be but they had no record of it being serviced with the dealership itself :)

How does he reset all the service indicators etc? Check the electonic systems using examiner? Also you need receipts, not stamps for service work.

It's his job!!!! It's how he has run a successful business for the past 30 years. By being able to do what people require on their cars!!!! He knows what is needed and required to keep manufacturers happy!!

Nevermind :rolleyes:

:bang::bang:

Sometimes wonder why I and others bother at times.

If we say our cars run on petrol on the forum some people will try everything to prove they run on tree sap or something!

Not me, at the time (2 years ago) I felt the money was best kept in MY bank account rather than the dealers TBH. Since then I have gone the private garage route same as Bravoh and have no complaints (or faults) :p

Dealers really do need to reconsider their position on Warranty service work, especially in the current economic climate, high costs are ok if there is value, but extra £100's of pounds for "things" like Examiner checks etc are a bit iffy in my mind, smacks of money-grabbing and people wont forget when this recession is over and a lot of cars come up for replacement.

Maybe time will prove me wrong, I hope not, but so far 39,000 miles on I am a totally happy Fiat owner / driver. :D
