Technical Fiat Punto 1.2V 55 plate - gear stick :(

Hi

Having been driving 20+ years I find myself the owner of my first Fiat...overall I am very pleased so far.

The year of manufacture is 2005 and it is 1.2l 8V model

I noticed that the slider that goes up and down to select reverse is loose and serves no real purpose. I am able to use all gears including reverse with no obvious problems.

However, I wondered if this problem is common, can be solved and is one for concern?

To my mind it appears as though the "slider" either needs tightening or removing to be replaced with a normal gear knob - for I do not need to use the slider to select reverse....

Hope this makes sense...apologies but I am not very technical, nor an expert on forums but hope someone can give a answer to help?

the "slider" is a lift gate - to allow reverse to be selected

Joke is - i dont even recall using the lift cause it comes soo naturally

Eitherway - if reverse is engaging fine, i wouldnt worry
