Fiat Hymer 2004 2.8 jtd auto box issue

Hello all

I have just joined hoping for some insight into an issue that has been driving me a little mad.

I recently purchased a Hymer b654 2004 auto with a fiat jtd 2.8.

ran fine from pickup but on getting warm seemed very reluctant to change gear, then the blowers came on with the bonnet open warning sign.

went to my mechanic and we plugged it in and cleared the codes ( CAN fault) went for a drive all seemed fine until engine gets up to temperature then bonnet open light comes on, loss of power, gearbox stuck in one gear fans going like billy oh.

stop turn off engine, light goes off fans go off, changes gear normally again, for a while. then same thing, bonnet light, loss of power, gear sticking fans etc.

we thought maybe a faulty earth on the gbox engine etc (not that)

anybody ?

Very often on old fiats the thick battery ground wires corrode inside plastic so fail invisibly.
Rad fans dimming on often indicates engine temp sensor signal missing , could be sensor, sensor wire or bad ground.

Bonnet open light??
Are you sure that is not an engine malfunction light? Yellow with image of engine on it?
