The thread is damaged. I need to restore it. I don't want to damage the bolt on the other side either.

@Denys26 A shock absorber mounting bolt will almost certainly be metric, so first measure the diamater, of the removed bolt over thread or better plain shank.
The thread will probably be metric fine, so use my attached table to confirm that by measuringr over several threads and dividing, or use a metric thread gauge.

Most motor vehicle fixings will be high tensile and you may be able to read the tensile strength on bolt head. e.g. 8.8, or 10.2 tons are typical values. Do not use hardware store bolts, as they will probably only be 4.4 ton tensile strength. Bolt manufacturers use other coding systems, and an internet search for "bolt tensile strength" may help.

For my x244 eLearn lists rear shock absorber bolts as M16 x 1.5 which is fine pitch, with a tightening torque 14.7 t0 20.9 daNm. I would round this to 150 to 210Nm.
