Hi, having a bit of trouble with a recently bought doblo, its the 1.3 multijet model (and ex royal mail van), 58k on clock.

Its symptoms are, sluggish under 2000 rpm by struggling to provide power and sort of jolts back n' forth if I give it 50%=> throttle and the engine doesn't sound like its running on all 4 cylinders. Although once I get above 2k rpm its not really noticeable/feels fine, but I feel like im having to give it the beans just to drive it normally, meanwhile mpg remains really low as I'm often in a higher gear than I should be due to those issues. And lastly, I can feel vibrations a little too much on idle, and has the tendency to drop rpm too much when let go off accelerator but then picks back up to idle point. Any advice for me? Thank you
 
You could try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if the performance improves, if so that could be the culprit. This will most probably trigger the EML though so would need resetting after

Hi, thanks, I've just tried that again but sadly doesn't really make a difference unfortunately, I also tried to unplug the lamda sensor just above the dpf and although the engine noise and wobble persists in higher gears at low revs, I dont need to give it so much throttle anymore and it just floats better at minimal throttle since its letting more air out with no sensor there.

We also tried to unplug all of the injector cables, one by one to see difference in performance and only one of them didn't make a massive difference in comparison to the others which really made the engine struggle and sound like a tractor. Is this potentially a cause? Just to clarify, they all made a visible difference but specifically the 3rd injector made less of a change when unplugged.
 
Definitely a possibility yes, you’d expect similar effects regardless of which injector is disconnected. You could do a leak off test to confirm if this is at fault. I bought a cheap kit off fleebay and it worked fine
 
To be fair though 58k is low mileage to be having injector faults
Yep, my only guess is since it was owned by royal mail for those 50k ish miles and them doing short trips on a regular, potentially has not only clogged up the dpf, but also the injectors somehow? Either way, thanks for your help, I will see what I can do.

If the DPF was blocked though you’d get a warning although yes, local trips won’t have done it any favours. Keep us updated on what you find 👍
 
Unplugging the MAF gives the ECU a default setting so that it still runs. Obviously this shouldn’t provide as much performance as a fully working MAF. So if there’s an improvement by unplugging you know your MAF is faulty

Ahh I see, this one has completely no difference in performance with it plugged in or out, only check engine light
 
As it’s still sluggish below 2000rpm even with MAF disconnected I doubt that’s the problem then. Could the EGR be playing up possibly as this can cause a kangarooing effect
 
Good news! One of the injectors wasn't misting any diesel, therefore it was running on 3 injectors only. For anyone reading this in future, turn your injectors upside down and try to turn ignition on and ensure they are all misting properly. I suggest doing them one at a time as its kind of hard to see which one is and isn't working. So just electrically plug in one at a time. Thanks for the help @Greasytrucker

Fantastic news. Again very low mileage for a faulty injector but the main thing is it’s sorted. Thanks for concluding the thread as many members disappear without updating us on the outcome 🙂

Low milage indeed, royal mail potentially replaced it with a broken one before sending the van to auctions, to keep a working one for their fleet. As like you said, only 58k on clock
