Hello guys,I'm new here.I currently own a 2008 Fiat Albea (some kind of palio sedan but with weird chassis and more kilos :D ).In the previous year I tried doing as much research as possible but couldn't come up with a solution to my problems so as a "last resort" I'm willing to post my problems here.
Firstly,I would love to know much more about my engine's capabilities aswell as suspension components and what not even common shared bodyparts. As far as I know,I share the same engine with the grande punto 1.4 8v.The engine codename is 350A1.000.Now I know that Fiat likes to share parts between multiple engines and chassis but I want to know more precisely which cars share what parts.I tried buying a sport suspension off a grande punto but it doesn't fit because of the larger spring diameter on the Albea and I'm contemplating into manufacturing some adapters so they'll fit.
Secondly,I want to know/learn more about parts that I can take from other Fiat engines since I'm planning on doing nice stuff with this car.It has very low mileage and I see a proper racing possibilities as it only weighs 1042kilos with full tank and driver. As further informations about maintanance I noticed the fact that I always have to search for Palio/Palio Weekend parts which is quite strange given the fact that the car actually sold pretty good under the Albea name.
So as a conclusion I'd like to know if there is a place where I can get all this knowledge as I called up my local Fiat dealer and the lady there said that "we don't know such things/we don't have access to such informations and we can't help you".

Any informations you guys could provide will be greatly appreciated :)

Welcome to the forum :)

First things first, you might struggle even on here as this is primarily a UK based forum and we never got the Albea (which makes a lot of us very sad, because it's such an awesome looking car!).

I'm surprised that Grande Punto suspension doesn't fit, as I was under the impression that the Albea shared a platform, or was at least based off of the 199 platform.

There's not a lot of tuning options out there specific to the 1.4 8v, however if you're looking at motorsport I'd suggest trying to source a 1.4 16v T-Jet engine instead as that'll give you a great starting point with a ton of tuning potential.

Hey,thanks for replying.I don't know about the 199 platform but my car's code is 178_ which I believe is related to Palio or Palio Weekend. It was a dumb move made by me in the first place because I didn't find palio suspensions available in my country and rushed into buying the fastest ones that I could grab.Moral of the story?Impatience never brings you anywhere. :p
I still think that some mods might be possible to the engine as the mk3 punto guys can take camshafts off older models and run them with proper results.Thing is I am in no financial possibility to be "the one" who tests such theories in the first place :( .I can't play lottery and spend money on parts that I can't properly afford or even use.(I still like to believe that if the engines look alike there might be a chance that parts might fit haha)
Are there any kind of informations available regarding the cam position and valves which could possibly fit my engine?I was pointed by Fiat guys in my country to search the turkish part of the webs as they built this car but that really is a pain in the ass :D.
Maybe I can build some cheaper diy version of a turbo since they sold my car as 1.3 diesel but thats not the solution as I'd rather keep it N/A.
Excuse my impoliteness if I rush with all these questions and concepts but I'm coming from BMWs where there is plenty of diagrams and informations about their cars and engines  (thats pretty much eastern europe for you)

Wasn't the Palio/Albea/Siena based on the Punto MK1?

As far as I know the Albea/Siena/Strada/Perla are based off Palio. The Palio was based off the old Fiat Uno.The only thing that all the newer ones received are engines off Grande Punto and Bravo. (1.2,1.4 8v)
