Hello friends.

Among you all proud owners of a 500e and most probably some of you geeks, did anyone create a post for newbies, a kind of cheat sheet will all the little tips that make the experience awesome ?

Some examples:

How to use the buttons hidden behind the wheel, how to optimize co-driver and speed control management while driving, what are best settings for a great experience, explain the little things which are unclear, etc...

Also explain the Uconnect package and if they are really useful, necessary...

And perhaps some more advanced tips like automation (Apple shortcuts ? Home Assistant, etc...)

I don't think anyone has as it's mostly a pretty simple car. TBH most questions involve people not RTFM. As for Apple etc CarPlay is what it is, exactly the same on any car? Home Assistant etc have no way to access the car as far as I know so a dead end.

I find the 40 page user manual doesn't give clear instructions and the online 320 page manual is difficult to navigate. I'll just have to spend some time going through the infotainment screen and manual controls - at least I can do it in the warm, using the climate control in the car!

And who RTFM nowadays ? Internet is the source of truth 🤣. Earth is flat guys 😂.

No. A cheat sheet or a tutorial is always a good thing and communities do these sometimes. And it's a great user experience 😊. Dont tell poeple "search on google" or "RTFM". Let's be a community 🙂.

My La Prima is already in Home Assistant and even if for now telemetry is not updated and commands do not work (keep in mind I still don't see anything yet in the app except the vin and the model), the car location sensor works fine.

I use it I.e. to launch my Roborock and lower the temperature at home when the car leaves home for more than 5 minutes, and raise the temperature when the car is back in the zone. I could add turning on garden lights if after sunset for example.

When telemetry will be working fine, I'll be able to start the charge after 9pm for lower rate, and stop it when the car reaches 80%.

Then ask questions. Don’t just expect others to do all the work for you or preach about being a community when you’ve been here less than a week. It’s pretty usual to expect a new member, anywhere, to be able to search for answers first.

Home Assistant is great I just haven’t seen anything that suggests data from Fiat can be extracted and used. They’re notoriously locked down.

I asked a question, you answered (basically RTFM), I answered. Where is the problem exactly ?

As per Home Assistant, I will share, but for you, I will tell you just Google it and you'll find you might be wrong, and then, RTFM 😜

I agree, the manual isn't easy to navigate and like most Fiat manuals has been badly translated into English. The online version is stored as a pdf on this site so you can download to a computer which makes it more searchable. Fiat's UK YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@FiatUK) is also helpful with some"digital handover" videos but conveniently doesn't inform on the mystery media control buttons on the back of the steering wheel (page 280 of the pdf manual does though).
