I am seriously thinking for a reason not to buy the Tesla. It is like nothing else I have ever driven and that includes a Zonda.. You put your foot down and bang you are being pressed hard in to the back of the seat and the power does not let off until 120mph. 0-60 in 3.7 secs is just mad.
The down sides are it only has 2 seats the airbag will not turn off so I could not have my son in the car until he is older and it is not the easiest thing to get in and out of. The range is no problem for me as I only do short trips. but the price is over £100,000 for the spec I am looking at.

As we lawyers say, "res ipsa loquitur".

:Offtopic:
I was mega impressed with the Leaf but more so with the technology. It's hard to know if we're going to end up driving battery power cars or bio-fuel ones. At least from your test drive it gives you 'hope' for the future. With all the controversy over food verus fuel here we were able to produce the bio fuel as a by-product of making sugar so it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. I wonder what future lies in store for those with strong mechanical engineering skills ?
P.S. When I checked the range of the tesla they claimed 245 miles. It must have one of those Eco buttons.:)

Compacy summary ad provided by Fiat ...
The kit includes special 16-inch alloy wheels with Abarth centre-caps, side skirts, a rear spoiler , bonnet decals and aluminium pedals and is available from October on Pasodoble Red and Crossover Black TwinAir models only.

Has anyone done a tot up of the kit to see if the Abarth pack is 'value for money' ?
(Skirts £300 ? Abarth roof spoiler £150 ? Aluminum pedals £100 ? Stripes £75 ? Spray £100 ? Adhesive kit £100, Upgraded wheels £125 ?)

For that cash id get an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Nothing beats the sound of that! I guess the Tesla would be faster but there again the aston is no slouch. The thing is how long will that battery last and be maintained on the Tesla? And what if you want to drive to Nice with it? Stop by a hotel for the night and plug it in while you sleep?

Another thing, how did the handling feel? I think its heavy because of the huge battery.

The Tesla is aimed at people who already have the Aston for the run to Nice.

Haha, you know i was never the type of person to collect things. I would never have cars that i would keep in the garage and then when i came round to using it, OH NO the battery is flat from lack of use.
You ask me for 3 cars?
It would be either Fiat 500/ Mini Cooper S/Mini Countryman S for some urbanizing.
A Range Rover Sport for cross country trekking or the school run or some proper shopping.
And an Aston Martin Vantage V12 for racing.
Of course there can be variations of the exact car, but with only one type of car per genre i feel i have covered all the bases here.
I find it depressing people buy things and then never use them = (

Aston Martin make a nice looking nice sounding unreliable car. I have a friend that has one and it is 2 years old. It has spent over 6 months back at the dealer trying to fix stuff

Dude get a blade or an R1, twice the fun :)

btw : I don't advocate wheelies at all, not that I can do them.

I have had fast bikes (r1, r6) and yes they are great fun but I am 40 this year and my reactions are not what they once were, and I now have a wife and son and I am sure they don't want me to die.
I still have my knee sliders with titanium bolts in so when you get your knee down it gives out big sparks and I am sure if I had a fast bike again I would still ride like a loon.

being 40 is like a young boy... I know I am side tracking here but I have a proven theory on reactions, yes I am a slower then I used to be and its nothing to do with age (perhaps just a little). At the age of 35-45 I was on the bike every day, you had to think on your feet or rather on the throttle and think ahead like playing chess, at least 5 to 6 cars ahead; "what consequences lie ahead if I overtake car x and then do x y z", always needed an exit strategy to hand. A 45 mile bike ride to work was like a full body exercise, absolutely alert when you got off the bike, and then spent the whole day doing IP Routing on live networks - I miss that buzz. Anyway started working from home, the jogging stopped after 12 months and nowadays in a rut feeling lazy in the mornings. Reactions do improve under pressure or deadlines, golf and badminton help but nothing like being on the bike. I do find activeness and passion are linked to personal success.

Anyone not ridden a bike but 100% alert day in day out and full of passion ?

I had a GSX 250 and migrated to an RD350. After 2 months I got rid of the RD (TG it wasn't the powervalve). Raced a push bike and ended up in the 'Honda ward' after one mishap on a 'training spin' off season. Took a few bone grafts to get things right. The problem is that if your concentration lapses (even for a second) your history. I take it that you have a good life insurance policy and you have 'tied up all loose ends'. Seriously dude if you have to have a 'bike' get a Vespa.

There was an 'up side' to being in the 'Honda ward' - I got to ask out some very nice nurses but that was in my 20s :). Different story now. I hope you didn't take it up wrong - I'm no stranger to taking chances but I take a lot less now. The temptation of motorbike would be too much for me but I might ride a Vespa type bike and stay within the city limits.(y)

I really like the look of the Abarth Pack, but has anyone seen it/have pictures of the Crossover Black version

My local dealer has a red one in stock. Looks very nice.
This particular one has red leather. That puts the price above a twinair plus.

I've yet to see it in black, but reckon it would look great.
I'd still choose the TA+ though for its higher spec as the side
mouldings and rear spoiler upgrades are quite difficult to tell they've
been fitted in my eyes.
