Hi - I have the engine from a Fiat 131 or 132 installed in my recently-acquired modified Morris Minor. The modification work on the car was originally carried out around 1980, I believe, but that date is only a guess! I am not sure what the engine is though, apart from believing that it's the 2.0L twincam version used in these models. Please see the photos of the engine block and head numbers stamped on them and would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on what the details of the engine and head might be.
The engine is a 2.0L block with this ident: 4356114 and 132 08 2A 0
I recently came across a rebuild project of a Fiat 131 Abarth engine on Facebook, where the block ident was identical to mine.
The head has this ident: 4371507 and 2V S62
I am struggling to know what the construction of the head and block really are.
So I am not sure what I’ve got. Even to the point of now knowing if it’s a 8v or 16v head. I had assumed 8v but then the Abarth was 16v so could it share the same block…??
Can anyone please help me shed some light on this so I know what I’ve got? Much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I think that is a B as in 132 0B 2A 0 engine, I have looked through a few old technical Data manuals but cannot pin it down exactly.
I also have an old car manual on the 131 up to 1984 which shows an OHC 2 litre but only 8 valve, so not sure if the 132 Super Mirfori ? 2 litre was 16 valve or not.
Though I did have a customer with one around 1986, all I can remember is it went fairly well for it day but the Pirelli tyres were crap in the rain.

The only reason I question the 8V or 16V situation is because of the 131 Abarth which I found on FB, which I believe was 16V. Thanks for your help!

You want the engine number not the casting numbers to be sure what spec it is. They will be stamped on a flat above the oil filter.
I agree , however that engine number needs to include something like the 132 0B 2A 0 or similar Series Number as that is often what parts suppliers need to supply the correct parts.
Often the number you find stamped on the engine will correspond with an Engine Series Number on a Vin. /chassis plate riveted to the car somewhere often under the bonnet/hood on most vehicles.:)

That should be a a 131 DB 2A 000 engine. All 131 and 132 Blocks 2 litre are identical. From what I see of the head and the casting number it looks like an 8V. If you had a 16v Abarth head you’d have around £20k’s worth of cylinder head on your Minor. The engine number will confirm it as will a photo of the whole engine.
