The mechanic removed the ashtray to run wires behind it and now the ashtray is loose and comes out of the dash.
I tried to figure out why ,it seems like it is not catching at the top.
Help will be appreciated.
If the ashtray was previously secure in the dashboard but is now loose after the Mechanic had removed/refitted it, then imho, the Mechanic should be required to fix it.
But if you prefer to do this little repair yourself, here's a suggestion that might work.
I'm assuming that your dashboard looks like this:-
And your Ashtray looks like this :-
If so, the reason for the ashtray now being loose might be that the spring clip has been bent or become weak - you could try gently bending the clip so that the little projection/bump (arrowed in red) on the spring clip projects more upwards out of the ashtray so that it can secure the ashtray into the dashboard. If the spring clip has become weak, you could try inserting a little packing piece of e.g. rubber or plastic under the projecting bump on the clip (in the direction I've arrowed in blue) to hold the clip 'bump' more upwards.
Did you manage to sort out your rear (tail) lamp problem?
I'd be interested in hearing what the problem turned out to be.
(some feedback might help others with a similar problem searching on this forum in future)
My rear tail light problem was fixed by itself without any repairs.
I looked in the back of the tail light and cleaned the back of the board and it works perfect now.
