I am rebuilding a Magneti Marelli (Italian) alternator for Fiat 126 and require a plastic cover/ cap for the diode pack.
Can anyone help?
I have been searching the internet to no avail, though I have found one for the (Polish) Zelmot alternator.

Yes I know them very well and do a lot of business with the, but it is only this plastic cover I need. I bought a complete alternator from them a coupel of weeks ago and now am rebuilding the old one (not in the UK), sending out parts to my mechanic friend..
Aha, where is he/she based as there are a lot more EU suppliers for 126s

Havana... There are still about 10,000 Polski 126's in circulation there, and I send parts out to my mechanic every couple of weeks. I buy them from seversal sources here. But out there we do not throw anything away and re-build everything if possible. Eg. Worn alternator rotor shafts are built up and machined back down again to repair. etc... My mechanic friend is very popular as he is the only person in the country with brake tube, and whatever I send out always has a queue of people waiting. So I am looking for this green plastic cover. If I cannot find one, he will no doubt end up making one.

This one?

Have you got a part number? or photos / diagrams?

Hmm, this one seems to have the ELMOT marking on it :( How does the MM one look like?

Polskis in Cuba with MM alternators? Sure about that? might be, they might have been putting MM for export, even to Cuba :D

Yes that is exactly the part we are looking for.

In Cuba there are Fiat 126's with ELMOT alternators and with MM ones also.
We much prefer the ELMOT and I even buy broken ones here.
And a load of locally made regulators and generally a mess of inventions on top of inventions. My friend is a mechanic who specialises in working only on 126's and I send him all kinds of parts almost weekly.
Its an expensive process, but it is the only source of parts.
Whatever I send him is used or sold within a couple of days.
He never throws anything away, as he will rebuild whatever he can. I have seen several alternators where he has unwound the rotor wiring, sent it to a welder to build up the shaft again and machine it back down, then rewind the wiring, fit new bearings, and rebuild the alternator completely. One part which is a pain is the fan which mounts behind the alternator. When this has touches it cowl and become damaged, there is no alternative but to get a new one. I guess I have sent out over 100 in the last two years.
