Favourite Dashboard Light Color?

Hey all,

Hope this is the right place for this. It's not strictly Fiat related but... well it is in my case!

I'm thinking of changing the lights / dials on my Punto Mk1... I was thinking white backgrounds with blue detail / blue lights in the dark but I'm not sure if that would be hard to see at a glance, and I want them to be clear / safe as well as nice to look at.

Does anyone have any input on this regarding preferred color / etc? Anyone put in ocean blue lighting and found it's really outputting (for example)?!

At night one of the best colours to have is red. you don't want anything like white light, so stay away from light blue for example as it messes up your nightvision.

My headunit lights up blue, and is really distracting at night. Best colours for backlights would be orange or red, hence why they are used as standard

I had blue lockwood dials in Mondeo, they were a lightish blue, no problems at night, easy to see etc, certainly not distracting

I have mid-blue custom dials. When I first got them I couldn't stop looking at them, but that's just because they're so pretty They're no longer distracting I keep meaning to get everything else changed to blue but too much effort

I like standard green although the ones I have now are very good...white isn't distracting IMHO.

As long as you haven't got the brightness turned up to 11 obviously

Blue on the other hand like my stereo bugs the f**k out of me its a bit strident compared to the original dull red glow. (See central dash display for comparison) They both dim when you turn the lights on but the red is less distracting.

I despise the orange in the Panda; last car at least had a blue backlit stereo to make up for it; now all I have is the green on the Pure Highway...

I would far prefer blue, but I cannot figure out how I'd change the LCD colour even if I swapsie the backlights for the dash/centre console/etc.

i had everything blue in the omega, looked really cool. Part of me wishes that colour changes were as easy for the mk2
